Childress Regional Medical Center, Fox Clinic, Stoney Ridge Golf Course, Childress ATV / Moto Park, Childress County Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center, Hampton Inn & Suites of Childress, Holiday Inn Express, Childress Banking Center and Pilot Travel Center, a Multi-Purpose Events Center, Pak A Sak Convenience Store an HTeaO World Famous Iced Tea and the complete restoration/transformation of the old 5 story hotel located downtown into the Hotel Childress Lofts are just a few of the multi-million dollar projects that have recently been completed. In addition, several historic buildings downtown and all of the motels on US Hwy 287 have complete renovations. Several other projects are being planned and/or are currently under construction, including Childress Hall, an exclusive private 36-hole links style golf course with 2 accompanying 9-hole Par 3 courses. Construction of the first golf course, designed by Tom Doak, will commence November 2023 and the construction of the second golf course, designed by Gil Hanse, will commence in November 2024. The course is dunes topography with native prairie grasses. It is ideally situated with the Prairie Dog Town Fork of The Red River on the western side of the property and the sand dunes on the eastern side of the property.
Wind Energy brought several multi-million-dollar transmission lines through the county. Solar Parks are taking advantage of this. Misae Solar Park I is a 1,674-acre Solar Park just east of Childress. A new 3,800-acre Solar Park has begun construction in the same area and is expected to bring 600-1000 temporary jobs through 2025.
With the abundance of electricity produced here by the Solar Parks, Childress has attracted companies such as IREN (Iris Energy), a Bitcoin Data Mining and AI company is constructing facilities that are to bring 56 permanent full-time local jobs once fully completed. They are up and running.
Oil & gas activity in the surrounding area has brought projects and jobs to Childress County.
The Prairie Dog Fork of the Red River is one of two navigable rivers in the Panhandle of Texas for ATV’s, Motorcycles, Full Size OHV’s, Dune Buggies & Sand Rails.
